About The Webinar

Outdoor spaces in long-term care (LTC) can enhance residents' well-being, encourage social interaction, and foster intergenerational connections. However, these spaces are often underused, and practical constraints such as accessibility, maintenance, and limited resources can hinder their potential. This session will explore practical approaches to engaging residents, care partners, staff, and community members in designing accessible, inclusive, and meaningful outdoor spaces. Drawing on a community-based participatory research and design project at Saint-Louis LTC in Ottawa, Alesya will share lessons learned, methods for collaboratively developing and prioritizing design ideas, and insights to help LTC homes establish a clear vision for future implementation and grant applications. There will be opportunities to ask questions and reflect on how the content and ideas could apply in your own setting.
